Acne Treatment

Acne is a skin condition that occurs when the oil-secreting glands in the skin are clogged and become inflamed or infected. Acne is only a skin problem and does not affect your general health.

Mostly seen in the age groups 12-18. Hormone changes, stress, wrong cosmetics or over use of cosmetics can all cause acne.

These glands occur mainly on the face, back and chest, so these areas are the main sites for acne. Acne is associated with increased grease production, therefore people with acne often notice and complain of the greasiness of their skin.

Keeping your face clean has advantages. To protect your skin from getting acne, you shouldn't wash your face with a lot of soap which will damage your skin. If you use make-up, you should do a light layer and use lotions that aren't as oily.

Acne Treatment
  • First, take the following self-care steps to lessen the effects of acne:
  • Clean your skin gently with a mild, non-drying soap (like Dove, Neutrogena, or Basics), removing all dirt or make-up. Wash once or twice a day, including after exercising. However, avoid excessively or repeatedly washing the skin.
  • Shampoo your hair daily, especially if your hair is oily. Comb or pull your hair back to keep the hair out of your face. Avoid tight headbands.
  • Try not to squeeze, scratch, pick, or rub the pimples. Although it might be tempting to do this, it can lead to scarring and skin infections.
  • Avoid touching your face with your hands or fingers.
  • Identify and avoid anything that aggravates acne. Your triggers may include foods, lotions, or make-up.
  • Avoid greasy cosmetics or creams. Look for water-based or "non-comedogenic" formulas. Take make-up off at night.
The things that we shouldn't forget are the facts that acne is a skin problem that should be treated by a dermotologist and if the pimples that aren't treated are scratched(itched), played with, or popped, it might leave a scar or a mark on the skin.

Weight Loss

Do you sometimes get bored with your aerobic exercise? Do You sometimes feel like you're not getting the results you should from your aerobic exercise? If so, then aerobic cross-training is for you.

Aerobic cross-training refers to using two to three different types of aerobic exercise during an exercise session. For example, if you plan to exercise for 60 minutes, you might start with 20 minutes of walking or jogging, followed by 20 minutes of biking, and finish with 20 minutes of rowing.

Now, please don't get the impression that you have to be in great shape to do this or that it has to be 60 minutes long. You can start with something as simple as a ten minute walk followed by ten minutes with an exercise video. This is cross-training too. You can gradually build up from there.

Here are some of the exercises you can use in your cross-training program; walking, jogging, biking, rowing, stair climbing, swimming, exercise videos, etc. Any combination of aerobic exercises will do. You simply go from one to the next with very little time between them.

Alcohol Treatment

Treating alcoholism with medications is an ongoing field of research, with scientists seeking answers to many questions. Research suggests that behavioral treatments—a course of action designed to teach an individual how to change his or her unhealthy behavior—can be effective for alcohol problems. The best treatment may be a combination of behavioral and prescription-drug treatment.
There are four main categories of medications that are either currently available or are still being tested for the treatment of alcoholism and alcohol abuse:
  • drugs that increase a person's sensitivity to alcohol
  • drugs that directly reduce drinking behavior
  • drugs that improve mental processes in patients with impairments (damage) caused by alcohol
  • drugs that treat psychiatric problems a person may have in addition to alcoholism
